[RP based in the past – The night of Pandora’s Box’s opening]

On the night of Pandora's Box being opened, Ash was in the Raven Hotel on the fourth floor. He wasn’t doing great financially, and had lost his home recently. He had now been staying in the Hotel for a couple of nights now, living off the money he had left and some that he had scrounged from odd jobs for people. Let’s be honest, it wasn’t the life he had hoped for…

Suddenly there were flashes of light outside and heavy rain, but with his curtains drawn, Ash simply assumed it was a storm and continued with watching the TV. Yet, when he heard a scream outside and the sound of a group of people running down the hallway calling out 'Look! What's up with the sky?' and similar things, curiosity got the best of Ash. He climbed to his feet and pulled his curtain back to gaze out at dazzling multi-colored streams of light shooting across the sky. It was beautiful… In a horrific way. But his attention was quickly averted as a huge shadow was cast across the street. Ash pushed open his window to stick his head out to see a massive red creature in the sky; to his disbelief, he could only describe it as a Dragon.

*Bang*

Screams continued outside, but it seemed as though outside was the least of his worries. The crash he heard was from just outside his room, and the whole building shook. Ash couldn't just stay in his room, it didn't feel safe. So, he pulled the door open, not knowing what he would find the other side…

It started like a normal day, any other day in Calous; it started to rain heavily. But this was no regular storm; cracks of lighting filled the sky in bright vivid colours and gloomy clouds encased the sky in darkness. Men and women ran through the halls of the hotel, blood smeared up the walls and soaked into the carpets and internal organs hung from the lights and thrown across the floor.

As the hotel room door creaked open it knocked over a corpse that had been propped against the door and grabbed the attention of a wolf on its hind legs, it looked almost like a man; was it possible that this was a werewolf. Turning to face the human the wolf’s yellow piercing eyes stared into Ash’s, its mouth opened and a deep growl rumbled from within. Snapping its jaws shut as it barked, the werewolf dropped onto all fours and charged down the hall towards the living mortal. With its razor like claws in front of it and its mouth wide open it leaped towards Ash with great speed; attempting to grab him with its claws and tear open his throat with its teeth…

Shock and horror filled Ash's face as he saw the bloody mess of a hallway. What had happened here? Though, the question was quickly answered as his gaze met those of a wild wolf. Blood dripped from it's mouth and claws, clearly the cause of all this mayhem. But where did it come from? It was insane.

However, Ash did have time to contemplate how irrational this was, as the wolf charged forward with incredible speed. With it running straight for him, Ash had to react. Without even thinking, he dove to the side just before it leaped, giving him barely enough to time to get out of the way before he was torn apart. Kazmiero pushed against the wall, his hands splatting into blood leaving crimson hand prints. But he didn't remain still for more than half a second.

With him evading, the werewolf would be left diving into Ash's hotel room door, giving Kaz a sudden plan. Well, more of an instinct than concious thought. If the wolf didn't crash straight through the door, he'd go for a quick trusting kick to push it into the room as he flung the door closed. And if it did, well, he'd just skip to the second part of the plan... Run! Whether the Werewolf was to be trapped in the room or not, Ash dashed down the hallway as quick as humanly possible, stumbling over the corpses before shoulder barging the door to the stairwell open...

As the human rolled to the side the wolf flew over him and into the doorway of his hotel room, the beast’s claws dug into the wooden frame and held firmly until a foot was driven into the lower spine of the werewolf. Its claws tore at the wood creating giant cracks and holes as the man sized dog was propelled into the room with force. It rolled as it hit the floor with a mighty thud, its growls now mummers as its bloody front paws were left clawless. As the door slammed behind it, the creature clambered to its feet and began to bang on the door not knowing how to use the door handle.

Ash barged the door to the stairs open to find the horror of a pile of corpses that had been thrown down the stairs and left to bleed. At the bottom, knelt over the corpses and gnawing and tearing at their flesh were two more werewolves; it looked like this was a small pack, and at the bottom of the stairs was their feeding pit. The two wolves at the bottom had yet to notice the living human... but behind him the clawless wolf broke down the door and looked towards him; anger filled it’s eyes and saliva dripped from its vice like jaws. Snarling at its prey, the beast got ready to charge again. This left Ash in a bad situation; he was surrounded and it looked like the only way to go was up to the next floor unless he had any bright ideas...

After bashing the door open and charging through into the stair well, in fact, he raced in so fast that Ash ended up with his hands pressed against the banister almost flinging himself over. Luckily, he stopped himself short of falling to an uncontrollable and very painful landing. Though, this left him looking down the multiple sets of stairs seeing the same as in the hallway - blood and gore. Though, what caught his attention was a pair of ravenous wolves at the bottom, just like the one that was chasing him.

How was he going to get out of this one? He knew he had to get out of the horror hotel; going up stairs would just get him further from where he needed to be, he’d have to get down. But almost diving over the banister by accident gave Ash an idea. It was risky, but what other choice was there?

Quickly turning back, he violently slammed the door closed behind for two reasons; one, it would at least slow the werewolf down that was in pursuit, and two, grab the attention of the other two. Ash was betting that they were just as thick-headed and violent as the other. Leaning back, Kazmiero put his back to the door, holding the door closed until it was time for the plan to take effect.

This was all theories now, but the plan was to wait for the wolves to race up the stairs to try to kill him. Surely they would. From what he’d seen of the first, they weren’t particularly tactical, so he was hoping this would work, it had too. As soon as they would be at the final few steps on their mad dash, Ash would rush forward and vault the banister and twist in the air to turn one hundred and eighty degrees to land the floor below, ready to run for his life.

Of course, if they didn’t charge as hoped, well, he’d have to think of something else, and fast…

The loud bang of the door slamming into the frame echoed through out the stairwell and it was followed by the sound of growling and barking. Unexpectedly it all went silent and there was no sounds from the wolves at the bottom of the stairs, or from behind Ash; what where they doing? Planning something else...were they actually smarter than what Ash first thought? Then the sounds of their claws scratching against the concrete steps as they raced up the stairs began to fill the air like nails on a chalkboard; getting louder and louder as they got closer, but there was still no sound from the wolf behind the door.

The wolves soon made their way to the floor with Ash on, and as he leapt over the banister one of the wolves reached out with its razor like claws trying to grasp Ash. Its claws barely missed his torso and slammed into the plaster of the wall tearing a chunk out. All of a sudden the wolf from behind the door smashed through and followed in Ash’s path; jumping over the banister and attempting to pounce on to the fleeing human to pin him down and tear open his neck with its vicious blood thirsty teeth...

PostSubject: Re: The First Steps of Survival   The First Steps of Survival Icon_minitimeSun Aug 15, 2010 3:16 pm

Having twisted a half turn in the air, Ash landed on the last couple of steps of this particular flight of stairs, quickly allowing his body to fall forwards into a roll. A shooting pain raced up his left ankle as he landed though, landing on steps like that took it’s toll on his body, but he couldn’t let this pain stop him. As soon as he let pain take over, he’d be wolf food.

Having rolled upon landing, he’d prevented himself from being pounced on, but the Werewolf was now right behind him. And he knew he couldn’t out run these creatures straight up. So, leaning with one hand on the banister to keep him up right, Ash quickly turned to see the back of the hairy monster and thrusted out his right leg again. This time though, he didn’t aim for it’s back, but heel or ankle, whatever part of it’s foot he could get. This way he would hopefully crush it’s joint between his foot and the step.

But it wasn’t like he was going to wait around and see if he’d damaged it’s ankle enough to slow it down. Kazmiero then began to run again, with the adrenaline rushing through his body, he barely even noticed the ankle sprain. He raced down the stairs as quick as he could, missing out steps and leaping when he was half way, then grabbing the banister upon landing to swing himself round to quick momentum down the next set. And he’d continue to do so as far down as he could get…

As the wolf landed it crouched with its clawed hands on the floor, a foot then buckled the wolf’s ankle with a violent kick from Ash. Its ankle twisted and made a loud crunch as the bone cracked under the pressure; broken and shattered bone tore through the thin hairy flesh of the wolf’s ankle and stuck out. The wolf let out a deafening roar as it fell to the floor in agony, its body writhing as it lay on the steps.

The two other werewolves began their chase again, sprinting down the stairs after the human, their claws scratching at the steps with every quick step they took. Their barks became louder as they gained up on Ash. As he reached the bottom of the stairs he found the door open and in front of him another werewolf; this one holding a young woman against the wall, its teeth dug into her throat and ripped violently into her flesh. Tearing away the wound began to spray blood against the walls and floor and her screams became gargles and then silence.

Dropping the body, the werewolf looked over to Ash, its face covered in blood. Behind him the other wolves had reached the same floor, but they stopped; their ears pricked up and they stepped back. The blood covered wolf growled and faced the wall to its right, a loud thudding came from behind the wall, getting deafening as it seemed to get closer. A giant club then burst through the wall knocking the wolf into the opposite wall.

Whimpering the wolf clambered to its feet before being grasped tightly in the hand of a large humanoid looking monster. The giant monster was hunched over in the hallway; placing its club on the floor it grabbed the werewolf in both hands. Shaking it violently it then began to pull with one hand holding its head and neck, the other holding it tight by the hind legs. The wolf tore like paper in the hands of the large creature, dropping the two halves of the dog the monster then turned to face Ash; the two wolves from behind him had already scampered off. Only one eye stared over at Ash… because that thing only had one eye… The Cyclops then looked down at its club, then back over to Ash; it was clear that the thing was thinking about grabbing it again and crushing the human with it… What was Ash planning to do about this? The Cyclops was blocking his path to any exit other than back the way he had just came…

Ash sprinted down the steps as quick as he could, never looking back, but hearing the daunting sound of the wolves getting closer and closer. Though, he almost tripped down the last set as he stumbled to a stop, panting like a dog. Stood before him was another of the freakish wolves feeding upon the young female. Kaz quickly turned his face away, not being able to cope with sight of it, he could just picture this being his family or friends, but just the sound of it was bad enough.

Immediately after turning away, he couldn’t help but look back. He had to. There was a sudden smash as the whole wall and the last part of the stair set was decimated by a huge club. As it was, Ash raised his arm to cover his head and face by instinct, falling back into an almost sat or laid down position across the steps. He then slowly lowered his arm, not sure if he wanted to see what was behind it, but he knew he had to. His face almost fell apart as he saw a huge one-eyed monster leaned over a little looking in on him, one of the wolves torn in half at it’s feet.

Ash froze for a second as it stared at him, but he knew he had to do something, and quick, because it’s eye darted to the club and then back at him. It was clear what it’s intentions were. But what could Ash actually do about it...?

Suddenly, with his hands shuffling to try and get a grip to get back to his feet, his finger breezed across a small chunk of the wall at his side. And that was the trigger for his next plan for survival. Ash hooked his fingers beneath the rock, keeping his eyes on the monster’s solitary eye. And, as soon as it looked down again for it’s club, Ash launched himself forward with a powerful swing of his arm, launching the rock at it’s eye as fast as humanly possible before jumping down the crumbled stairs, and making a run for it, dashing under it’s legs…

The man stayed still for a while due to shock as the Cyclops looked over, it then began to move towards its club. It then lost sight of the man…and everything else; the last thing it saw was a rock near its face. Stumbling backwards the giant placed both hands over its face; Ash’s throw was dead on target stunning and blinding the monster. Ash then quickly moved between the Cyclops’s legs, nearly being kicked as it stepped about blinded…

Ash now had a choice; either head across the hotel lobby towards the main exit and onto the streets, or head through the kitchen and into the side alleys next to the hotel. He would have no idea what to expect out on the streets, but then again what was going to be in the kitchen. Whichever path he was going to take he had best choose wisely and quickly; behind him the Cyclops had stumbled across its club and had started swinging randomly taking down the rest of the wall it had previously knocked through.
